Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) are essential components of modern diesel vehicle exhaust systems, designed to trap and remove harmful soot particles from exhaust gases. Located downstream of the engine and catalytic converter within the vehicle's exhaust pathway, DPFs significantly reduce emissions, ensuring compliance with stringent environmental regulations for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. These filters utilize a ceramic honeycomb structure to maximize surface area for efficient particle capture. Over time, DPFs become loaded with soot and require periodic regeneration - a process of burning off accumulated particles - or replacement.
